Abstract

Each region has its own regional characteristics, depending on the local culture, climate, and existing technology. Thus, architects from various regions around the world have their own mindsets regarding regionalism theory, so there are several tendencies regarding its embodiment. This study aims to identify the application of regionalism architecture to buildings in the City Hall Road Corridor Area, Medan, by using a descriptive qualitative method obtained from field observation data and then presented descriptively. There are several buildings that apply regionalism architecture in the City Hall corridor area of Medan, namely City Hall, Post Office, Bank Mandiri, Bank Indonesia, and Dharma Deli Hotel, with the concept applied through fulfilling criteria for being responsive to the local climate, socio-culture, political and economic conditions, technological developments, and building identification based on symbols. Keywords:Regionalism Architecture, City Hall Street, Medan / Setiap wilayahmempunyai ciri khas kedaerahan tersendiri, tergantung dari budaya setempatnya, iklim serta teknologi yang ada. Sehingga, para arsitek dari berbagai daerah di seluruh dunia mempunyai pola pikir masing-masing terkait teori regionalisme sehingga terdapat beberapa kecenderungan mengenai perwujudannya.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi adanya Penerapan Arsitektur Regionalisme pada Bangunan di Kawasan Koridor Jalan Balai Kota, Medan dengan menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif yang diperoleh dari data observasi di lapangan kemudian dipaparkan secara deskriptif.Terdapat beberapa bangunan yang menerapkan arsitektur regionalisme pada Kawasan koridor Jalan Balaikota, Medan yaitu Balaikota, Kantor Pos, Bank Mandiri, Bank Indonesia, Hotel Dharma Deli dengan konsep yang diterapkan melalui pemenuhan kriteria atas responsiveterhadap iklim setempat, sosial budaya, kondisi politik, ekonomi, perkembangan teknologi dan identifikasi bangunan berdasarkan simbol-simbol.
