Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menyelidiki apakah petunjuk konteks memiliki pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap pengembangan kosakata siswa kelas sepuluh. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode eksperimen dengan 1 grup pre-test dan 1 grup post-test. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah kelas X IPA 3 & X IPS 4 SMA Angkasa 1 Jakarta pada tahun akademik 2018/2019. X IPA 3 diajarkan kosakata bahasa Inggris menggunakan petunjuk konteks untuk melihat efek dari teknik itu. Untuk mendapatkan data, pre-test dan post-test digunakan sebagai instrumen. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis menggunakan statistik deskriptif dan teknik analisis statistik parametrik melalui program SPSS versi 21.00. Hasil uji normalitas menggunakan Shapiro-Wilk menunjukkan distribusi normal dan hasil uji homogenitas menggunakan uji Levene menunjukkan variasi yang homogen. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah bahwa petunjuk konteks memiliki pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap pengembangan kosakata siswa kelas sepuluh. Hal ini dapat dilihat dari nilai rata-rata pre-test dan post-test, yaitu, 49.28 dan 52,59 masing-masing. Berdasarkan hasil uji hipotesis menggunakan independent sample t-test, ditemukan bahwa sig (2-tailed) antara pre-test dan post-test adalah 0.17 < daripada Sig. α (0,05). Temuan menunjukkan bahwa Ha diterima. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah petunjuk konteks memiliki pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap pengembangan kosakata siswa kelas sepuluh. This research aimed to investigate whether context clue has a significant effect on the tenth graders’ vocabulary development. This research was carried out by using experimental method with one group pretest and one group posttest. The population of this research was X IPA 3 & X IPS 4 class of SMA Angkasa 1 Jakarta in 2018/2019 the academic year. X IPA 3 were taught English vocabulary using context clue to see the effect of that technique. To obtain data, pre-test and post-test were used as instruments. The data obtained were analyzed using the descriptive statistic and parametric statistical analysis technique through SPSS version 21.00 program. The result of normality test using Shapiro–Wilk showed normal distribution; and the result of homogeneity test using Levene’s test showed homogeneous variances. The result of this research was that context clue has significant effect on tenth graders’ vocabulary development. It can be seen from the mean scores of pre-test and post-test, which were, 49.28 and 52.59 respectively. Based on the result of hypothesis test using independent sample t-test, it was found that sig (2-tailed) between pre-test and post-test were 0.17 < than Sig. α (0.05). The findings indicated that Ha was accepted. The conclusion of this research was context clue had significant effect on the tenth graders’ vocabulary development.
