Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui apakah letterland dapat meningkatkan penguasaan bunyi–bunyi huruf pada para siswa pra-sekolah secara efektif dan menyelidiki reaksi dari para siswa pra-sekolah dalam mengunakan letterland meningkatkan penguasaan bunyi-bunyi huruf. Penelitian ini dilakukan di Royal Tots Academy, Menteng, Jakarta Pusat. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian tindakan kelas terhadap peserta penelitian yang merupakan 20 siswa pra-sekolah. Penelitian ini dilakukan pada saat term 4 tahun ajaran 2017/2018. Data didapatkan dengan melaksanakan test, melakukan pengamatan dan melaksanakan wawancara. Penemuan-penemuan di dalam penelitian ini adalah: letterland meningkatkan penguasaan bunyi-bunyi huruf terhadap para siswa pra-sekolah dan membuat para siswa merasa bahagia dalam mempelajari bunyi bunyi huruf. Hal tersebut dapat dilihat dari hasil data kualitatif melalui hasil yang diperoleh dari pre-test, post-test siklus I dan post-test siklus II. Hasil yang membaik ditunjukan melalui nilai rata-rata. Nilai rata-rata di dalam pre-test adalah 60, sedangakan nilai rata-rata di dalam post-test siklus 1 adalah 63.5 dan nilai rata-rata post-test siklus II adalah 82.5. Persentasi kemajuan dalam menguasai bunyi-bunyi huruf dari pre-test, post-test siklus I sampai post-test siklus II terlihat jelas peningkatannya. Data kulitatif ditunjukan melalui pelaksanaan interview yang menunjukan adanya peningkatan minat para siswa dalam mempelajari bunyi-bunyi huruf di tiap siklus. Oleh karena itu, dalam mengajar para guru disarankan untuk menggunakan letterland dalam meningkatkan penguasaan bunyi-bunyi huruf. Kata Kunci: meningkatkan, penguasaan, bunyi-bunyi huruf, letterland The objective of this research are to know whether letterland can effectively improve the preschool students‟ mastery of letter sounds and to investigate the preschool students reaction in mastering letter sounds using letterland. The research was conducted at Royal Tots Academy, Menteng Central Jakarta. This research is an action research with twenty students of preschool class as the participants of this research. The research was held in term 4 of Academic Year 2017/2018. The data was taken by conducting the tests, making the observation and conducting the interview. The findings of this research are: letterland improves the Royal Tots Academy preschool students‟ mastery of letter sounds and makes the students feel happy to learn letter sounds. It can be seen from the result of the qualitative data through the pre-test, post-test cycle I and II. A better progress has been shown from the mean scores. The mean score in pre-test was 60, in post-test cycle I was 63.5 and post-test cycle II was 82.5. The percentage of the progress in mastery letter sounds from pre-test until post-test cycle II clearly improved. The qualitative data showed through interview that there were increasing interests from the students in learning letter sounds from each cycle. So, it is suggested that the teachers should use letterland to improve the students‟ mastery of letter sound when teaching. Key words: improve, mastery, letter sounds, letterland
