Abstract

This research aims to examine the types of phrasal verbs and the translation techniques used to translate English phrasal verbs into Indonesian in the novel "the Girl Who Drank The Moon" By Kelly Barnhill. In this study, the researcher focused on 2 types of phrasal verbs contained in the novel, namely separable and inseparable phrasal verbs. Then the researcher analyzed the translation technique using the theory of Molina and Albir (2002: 511). The translation technique dominantly used by translator is established equivalent. Established equivalent is translation techniques that emphasize the commonness of terms or expressions in the target language. Established equivalent is applied to the translation of 8 phrasal verbs. This study concludes that in translating phrasal verbs, it can not only be translated literally into the target language but can also follow the prevalence of the target language. This technique translation can help readers of the target language to better understand the meaning and meaning of each sentence in the novel. Padanan lazim adalah teknik penerjemahan yang mengedepankan kelaziman istilah atau ungkapan pada bahasa sasaran. Padanan lazim digunakan pada 8 penerjemahan phrasal verb. Penelitian ini meyimpulkan bahwa dalam menerjemahakan phrasal verb tidak hanya dapat diterjemahakan secara harafiah ke bahasa sasaran tetapi dapat juga mengikuti kelaziman bahasa sasaran.
