Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis dampak kebijakan pembatasan kelapa sawit yang dilakukan oleh Uni Eropa terhadap penerapan diplomasi bisnis oleh PT Sinar Mas Agro Resources and Technology Tbk (PT SMART Tbk). Adapun dampak yang akan dibahas yakni respons PT SMART Tbk dalam menanggulangi kebijakan pembatasan kelapa sawit oleh Uni Eropa yang dianggap diskriminatif. Dengan menggunakan metode kualitatif deskripstif-studi kasus, bertujuan untuk menjelaskan fakta-fakta yang terdapat di lapangan. Sumber data yang digunakan oleh peneliti adalah data primer (wawancara dengan praktisi) dan data sekunder (tinjauan literatur). Penelitian ini menggunakan teori diplomasi bisnis oleh Huub Ruël dan Tujuan Pembangunan Berkelanjutan untuk menganalisis respons korporasi kelapa sawit. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah dalam menanggulangi kebijakan pembatasan komoditas yang dilakukan oleh Uni Eropa, korporasi memiliki kecenderungan untuk mengupayakan strategi-strategi diplomasi bisnis dalam mempertahankan perusahaannya agar operasionalisasi bisnisnya tidak terganggu. Perusahaan memandang kebijakan tersebut sebagai tantangan bagi para pelaku usaha untuk menerapkan nilai-nilai keberlanjutan dalam inti bisnisnya. Hal tersebut mendasari upaya diplomasi bisnis perusahaan dengan cara melakukan kontak langsung dengan Uni Eropa untuk membahas mengenai kebijakan pembatasan tersebut. / This study aims to analyze the impact of the European Union's palm oil restriction policy on the application of business diplomacy by PT Sinar Mas Agro Resources and Technology Tbk (PT SMART Tbk). The impact that will be discussed is the response of PT SMART Tbk in tackling the policy of palm oil limitation by the European Union which is considered discriminatory. Using descriptive qualitative-case studies, it aims to explain the facts contained in the field. The data sources used by researchers are primary data (interviews with practitioners) and secondary data (literature reviews). This research uses Huub Ruël's theory of business diplomacy and the Sustainable Development Goals to analyze the response of palm oil corporations. The result of this research is in tackling commodity restriction policies conducted by the European Union, corporations have a tendency to pursue business diplomacy strategies in maintaining their companies so that their business operations are not disrupted. The Company sees the policy as a challenge for businesses to implement sustainability values at the core of their business. This underlies the company's business diplomacy efforts by making direct contact with the European Union to discuss the limitation policy.
