Abstract

Penelitian ini mengkaji teknik penerjemahan yang digunakan dalam menerjemahkan jargon fiktif yang dikategorikan sebagai Common Jargon pada teks takarir bahasa Indonesia serial anime Cyberpunk: Edgerunners (2022). Serial ini mengandung berbagai bentuk neologisme fiktif yang berkaitan dengan teknologi tingkat tinggi dan kehidupan jalanan distopia, sehingga proses penerjemahannya menjadi menantang karena tidak adanya padanan kata langsung serta adanya batasan ruang dan waktu dalam takarir. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif dengan data berupa kutipan takarir yang mengandung istilah jargon fiktif. Analisis dilakukan berdasarkan teori teknik penerjemahan Molina dan Albir (2002). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat sembilan teknik penerjemahan yang digunakan oleh penerjemah. Temuan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerjemah cenderung mempertahankan makna asli istilah tersebut melalui teknik pure borrowing sebagai strategi yang paling dominan untuk menjaga imersi dunia cyberpunk, sedangkan teknik-teknik lainnya diaplikasikan ketika penyesuaian pragmatis diperlukan agar teks tetap dapat dipahami. Oleh karena itu, penerjemahan Common Jargon dalam takarir melibatkan keseimbangan yang rumit antara mempertahankan "suara genre" (genre voice) dan memastikan kejelasan makna bagi penonton. Kata Kunci: Teknik penerjemahan, Common Jargon, takarir, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, Molina dan Albir. / This study examines the translation techniques used in translating fictional jargon categorized as Common Jargon in the Indonesian subtitles of the anime series Cyberpunk: Edgerunners (2022). The series contains various forms of fictional neologisms related to high technology and dystopian street life, making the subtitle translation particularly challenging due to the lack of direct equivalents and strict spatial and temporal constraints. The study employs a descriptive qualitative method, with data collected from the subtitle excerpts containing fictional jargon terms. The analysis is based on Molina and Albir's (2002) translation techniques. The findings show that nine distinct translation techniques were applied throughout the subtitles. The results indicate that the subtitler tends to preserve the original terms through pure borrowing as the most dominant technique to maintain narrative immersion, while employing other techniques when pragmatic adjustments are necessary for readability. Therefore, subtitling Common Jargon involves a delicate balancing act between preserving the "genre voice" and ensuring semantic clarity for the audience.
