Abstract
This study analyzes the expansion strategy of Li-Ning Company Ltd. within the dynamics of Indonesia’s sports industry through the lens of China’s national policies. The sports industry in this research is not viewed as a neutral economic sector, but as a strategic instrument of the state to strengthen global influence. By integrating the Tǐyù Qiángguó Theory, this study examines how China’s national interests are manifested through corporate business operations in international markets. The research employs a descriptive qualitative method, with the analysis focused on the interaction between Li-Ning’s market penetration strategies and Indonesia’s characteristics as a dynamic emerging market, marked by shifts in sports consumption behavior. This study evaluates how Li-Ning, as a non-state economic actor, adapts its business model to address competitive pressures in Indonesia’s continually evolving domestic market. The findings indicate that Li-Ning’s expansion strategy is the result of a synergy between China’s strategic vision and the company’s flexibility in responding to market dynamics in Indonesia as an emerging economy. The success of this market penetration not only generates commercial benefits but also functions as an instrument of China’s soft power. Through the strengthening of brand identity in the sports sector, Li-Ning implicitly builds a positive image and enhances China’s cultural influence among the Indonesian public.
