Abstract

Skripsi ini diambil dari film Minari (2021) yang disutradarai oleh Lee Isaac Chung. Skripsi ini menganalisis gambaran perjuangan hidup keluarga imigran Korea yang tinggal di Amerika Serikat. Ada tiga tujuan dalam penelitian ini. Pertama, mengetahui bagaimana latar belakang kehidupan keluaraga Yi, kedua, mengetahui perjuangan hidup yang mereka hadapi sebagai keluarga imigran Korea, ketiga, mengetahui bagaimana cara keluarga Yi bertahan hidup menghadapi berbagai tantangan dan rintanga selama tinggal di Amerika. Analisis skripsi ini dengan menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif dengan menggunakan konsep sastra dan masyarakat serta unsur naratif film. Hasil dari penelitian ini digambarkan keluarga Yi sebagai keluarga imigran Korea mengalami tantangan untuk bisa bertahan hidup di perdesaan Arkankas Amerika Serikat. Penulis menemukan tiga bentuk tantangan yang dialami oleh keluarga Yi yaitu tantangan berbahasa Inggris, ketidakpercayaan keluarga Yi dengan masyarakat Arkankas, dan masalah finansial yang dialami oleh keluarga Yi. Walaupun digambarkan menghadapi banyak tantangan, keluarga Yi digambarkan tetap berhasil bertahan hidup. / This skripsi is taken from the movie Minari (2021) directed by Lee Isaac Chung. This skripsi analyzes the life struggles of a Korean immigrant family living in America. There are three objectives in this research. First, to know the background of Yi's family life. Second, to know the life struggles they face as a Korean immigrant family. Third, to find out how the Yi family survived in the face of various challenges and obstacles while living in America. This skripsi is analyzed using a descriptive qualitative method using the concepts of literature and society as well as film narrative elements. The results of this study depict the Yi family as a Korean immigrant family experiencing challenges to survive in rural Arkansas America. The writer found three forms of challenges experienced by the Yi family, namely the challenge of speaking English, the Yi family's distrust of the Arkansas community, and the financial problems experienced by the Yi family. Although the Yi family faced many challenges, they still managed to survive in rural Arkansas.
