Abstract

Partisipasi belajar merupakan aspek yang sangat penting dalam proses pembelajaran. Oleh karena itu, pemilihan metode pembelajaran sangat penting dalam memotivasi peserta didik untuk berpartisipasi. Metode kelompok kecil adalah metode pembelajaran yang berpusat pada peserta didik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk: 1) Untuk mengetahui faktor penyebab kurangnya partisipasi belajar peserta didik pada mata pelajaran Pendidikan Agama Kristen, 2) Untuk mengetahui efektivitas penerapan metode kelompok kecil terhadap peningkatan partisipasi belajar peserta didik, dan 3) Untuk mengetahui tingkat partisipasi belajar peserta didik sebelum dan sesudah penerapan metode kelompok kecil. Tiga tujuan tersebut, didasari oleh masalah yang terjadi di SMP N 103 Jakarta yaitu kurangnya partisipasi belajar peserta didik. Hasil wawancara awal menunjukkan bahwa guru lebih sering menggunakan metode ceramah. Melihat hal ini, penulis berasumsi bahwa metode pembelajaran ceramah adalah penyebab kurangnya partisipasi belajar peserta didik. Adapun metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif untuk memperoleh data dari informan yaitu 1 guru dan 14 peserta didik dengan melakukan observasi, wawancara dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian yang didapat yaitu, (1) Faktor yang menyebabkan kurangnya partisipasi belajar peserta didik pada mata pelajaran Pendidikan Agama Kristen adalah metode pembelajaran ceramah dengan pembawaan guru yang monoton dan membosankan sehingga peserta didik tidak termotivasi untuk berpartisipasi. (2) Metode kelompok kecil efektif dalam meningkatkan partisipasi belajar peserta didik karena dalam kelompok peserta didik dapat berpartisipasi melalui diskusi, kolaborasi dan refleksi dalam proses pembelajaran. (3) Penerapan metode kelompok kecil membawa perubahan pada partisipasi belajar peserta didik dimana sebelum penerapan metode kelompok kecil tingkat partisipasi belajar peserta didik kurang, sedangkan setelah penerapan metode kelompok kecil tingkat partisipasi belajar peserta didik meningkat. Dengan demikian, penulis menyimpulkan bahwa metode kelompok kecil efektif diterapkan dalam meningkatkan partisipasi belajar peserta didik pada mata pelajaran Pendidikan Agama Kristen di SMP N 103 Jakarta. Therefore, choosing a learning method is very important in motivating students to participate. The small group method is a student-centered learning method. This research aims to: 1) Determine the factors causing the lack of student learning participation in Christian Religious Education subjects, 2) Determine the effectiveness of implementing the small group method in increasing student learning participation, and 3) Determine the level of student learning participation before and after applying the small group method. These three goals are based on the problems that occur at SMP N 103 Jakarta, namely the lack of student learning participation. The results of initial interviews showed that teachers more often used the lecture method. Seeing this, the author assumes that the lecture learning method is the cause of students' lack of learning participation. The method used in this research is a qualitative method with a descriptive approach to obtain data from informants, namely 1 teacher and 14 students by conducting observations, interviews, and documentation. The research results obtained are, (1) The factor that causes the lack of student learning participation in Christian Religious Education subjects is the lecture learning method with a monotonous and boring teacher so that students are not motivated to participate. (2) The small group method is effective in increasing student learning participation because in groups students can participate through discussion, collaboration, and reflection in the learning process. (3) The application of the small group method brings changes to students' learning participation where before the application of the small group method the level of student learning participation was less, whereas after the implementation of the small group method, the level of students' learning participation increased. Thus, the author concludes that the small group method is effectively applied in increasing students' learning participation in Christian Religious Education subjects at SMP N 103 Jakarta.
