Abstract

Penelitian ini di lakukan dengan membahas stereotype standar kecantikan menurut perempuan Papua di Kabupaten Mimika dengan informan perempuan Papua yang berdomilisi di Kabupaten Mimika. Tujuan penelitian adalah untuk memberikan pemahaman stereotype standar kecantikan di Indonesia bagi perempuan Papua. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan kegiatan wawancara yang diperoleh langsung dari empat orang informan dan juga dokumentasi sebagai data pendukung. Teknis analisis data yang digunakan yaitu reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kecantikan sesungguhnya adalah berasal dari heterostereotipe dan subjektifitas. Akan tetapi strereotipe standar kecantikan menurut perempuan Papua di Kabupaten Mimika dan standar kecantikan perempuan Indonesia menunjukkan bahwa standar kecantikan di Indonesia ini adalah berkulit putih (cerah) dan berambut lurus. Standar kecantikan ini memberikan dampak seperti terdeskriminasi, rasa insecure, dan mengubah bentuk tubuh. Pada akhirnya stereotype standar kecantikan menunjukkan bahwa perempuan Papua masih belum bisa percaya kepada diri sendiri, tidak semuanya hanya sebagian yang merasakannya./This research was conducted by discussing stereotypes of beauty standards according to Papuan women in Mimika Regency with Papuan female informants who live in Mimika Regency. The aim of the research is to provide an understanding of stereotypes of beauty standards in Indonesia for Papuan women. The method used in this research is a qualitative descriptive approach. Data collection was carried out using interviews obtained directly from four informants and also documentation as supporting data. The data analysis techniques used are data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The research results show that true beauty comes from heterostereotypes and subjectivity. However, the stereotype of beauty standards according to Papuan women in Mimika district and the beauty standards of Indonesian women show that the standard of beauty in Indonesia is white (light) skin and straight hair. This beauty standard has impacts such as discrimination, feelings of insecurity, and changing body shape. In the end, the stereotype of beauty standards shows that Papuan women still cannot believe in themselves, not all of them, only some of them feel this way.
