Abstract
Anak Berkebutuhan Khusus (ABK) memerlukan dukungan khusus, terutama dari orang tua untuk mengembangkan potensi dan merencanakan karier. Anak Berkebutuhan Khusus (ABK) sering menghadapi hambatan dalam pendidikan inklusif dan pengembangan keterampilan, ditambah kurangnya kompetensi guru. Hal ini menimbulkan kecemasan orang tua mengenai masa depan karier anak. Dukungan orang tua bervariasi, namun penerimaan diri mereka menjadi kunci dukungan stabil. Penelitian ini menunjukkan, dukungan komprehensif dari keluarga dan lingkungan sangat penting agar Anak Berkebutuhan Khusus (ABK) dapat berkarier di tengah tantangan sosial. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengeksplorasi peran orang tua dalam pengambilan keputusan karier ABK serta tantangan yang dihadapi. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif jenis biografi dengan teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan wawancara, observasi, dan dokumentasi, lalu data dianalisis menggunakan teknik reduksi data dari Miles dan Huberman dan keabsahan data menggunakan triangulasi sumber. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemahaman orang tua terhadap keterampilan anak dan komunikasi yang baik adalah pondasi utama bagi kemajuan Anak Berkebutuhan Khusus (ABK). Diharapkan, penelitian ini meningkatkan kesadaran orang tua dan berkontribusi pada peningkatan kualitas hidup ABK melalui dukungan karier yang optimal/Children with Special Needs (ABK) need special support, especially from parents to develop their potential and plan their careers. Children with Special Needs (ABK) often face obstacles in inclusive education and skills development, coupled with a lack of teacher competence. This raises parental anxiety about the future of their children's careers. Parental support varies, but their self-acceptance is the key to stable support. This study shows that comprehensive support from family and the environment is very important for Children with Special Needs (ABK) to have a career amidst social challenges. This study aims to explore the role of parents in making career decisions for ABK and the challenges they face. This study uses a qualitative method of the biographical type with data collection techniques using interviews, observations, and documentation, then the data is analyzed using data reduction techniques from Miles and Huberman and data validity using source triangulation. The results of the study indicate that parents' understanding of children's skills and good communication are the main foundations for the progress of Children with Special Needs (ABK). It is hoped that this study will increase parental awareness and contribute to improving the quality of life of ABK through optimal career support.
