Abstract

Tesis ini sebagai salah satu upaya untuk mengkaji peran gereja dalam mengedukasi hukum perkawinan kepada pasangan perkawinan adat di Desa Dalek Esa, Rote Ndao, NTT. Dalam penelitian ini, peneliti menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan studi kasus. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah wawancara, observasi, dan dokumentasi. Adapun informan dalam penelitian ini terdiri dari 9 orang, antara lain: 1 orang Kepala Desa, 1 tokoh adat, 1 orang Pendeta, dan 3 pasangan pernikahan adat. Dari hasil penelitian ini, peneliti menyimpulkan bahwa peran gereja dalam mengedukasi hukum perkawinan sangat signifikan namun masih menghadapi tantangan. Terdapat kurangnya kerjasama antara gereja, pemerintah setempat, dan ketua adat yang menyebabkan kesenjangan dalam pemahaman dan penerapan hukum perkawinan. Selain itu, pemahaman masyarakat tentang hukum perkawinan masih bervariasi, dengan beberapa individu lebih menekankan pentingnya perkawinan adat dibandingkan perkawinan agama dan sipil. Gereja memainkan peran krusial dalam menjembatani kesenjangan ini melalui pendidikan dan konseling pranikah, serta pengajaran tentang pentingnya mengikuti prosedur hukum yang berlaku. Kata Kunci: Peran Gereja, Hukum Perkawinan, Perkawinan Adat This thesis is an effort to examine the role of the church in educating marriage laws to customary married couples in Dalek Esa Village, Rote Ndao, NTT. In this study, the researcher used qualitative research methods with a case study approach. The data collection techniques used were interviews, observations, and documentation. The informants in this study consisted of 9 people, including: 1 Village Head, 1 traditional leader, 1 Pastor, and 3 customary marriage couples. The results of this study concluded that the church's role in educating marriage laws is significant but still faces challenges. There is a lack of cooperation between the church, local government, and traditional leaders, which causes gaps in understanding and applying marriage laws. Additionally, the community's understanding of marriage laws varies, with some individuals emphasizing the importance of customary marriage over religious and civil marriages. The church plays a crucial role in bridging these gaps through pre-marital education and counseling, as well as teaching about the importance of following the applicable legal procedures.
