Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara penguasaan kosakata dengan pemahaman bacaan. Penelitian ini dilakukan di SMPN 146, Jakarta Timur. Populasi adalah pada siswa kelas II tahun akademik 2012-2013. Penelitian ini menggunakan sampel secara acak dari kelas VIII D dan VIII E, ada 50 siswa. Data penelitian dikumpulkan dengan menggunakan tes untuk mengumpulkan data dari penguasaan kosakata dengan pemahaman bacaan. Data tersebut kemudian dianalisis dengan menggunakan korelasi product moment. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa, terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan korelasi positif antara penguasaan kosakata dengan pemahaman bacaan (t hitung = 6,502> t tabel = 2,011). Hipotesis dari penelitian ini adalah bahwa ada hubungan yang signifikan antara penguasaan kosakata dengan pemahaman bacaan di SMPN 146, Jakarta Timur. Dan itu dibuktikan melalui analisis data menunjukkan bahwa hasil perhitungan adalah 0,684, yang berarti bahwa ada korelasi yang tinggi antara kedua variabel. Para penguasaan kosakata memberikan kontribusi sebanyak 46,8% kepada siswa 'pemahaman membaca. Hasilnya, siswa yang memiliki penguasaan kosakata yang selalu baik dalam membaca pemahaman. This study is aimed at finding out the correlation between students’ vocabulary mastery and reading comprehension. The study was carried out at SMPN 146, East Jakarta. The population was in the second grade students of 2012-2013 academic year. This study used a sample random sampling from class VIII D and VIII E, there were 50 students. The data of the study was collected by using test to collect the data of the students’ vocabulary mastery and reading comprehension. The data were then being analyzed by using product moment correlation. The research finding shows that; there is a significance positive correlation between students’ vocabulary mastery and reading comprehension (t count = 6.502 > t table = 2.011). The hypothesis of the study is that there is a significance correlation between students’ vocabulary mastery and reading comprehension at SMPN 146, East Jakarta. And it is proven through the data analysis showing that the result of the calculation is 0.684, which means that there is a high correlation between the two variables. The students’ vocabulary mastery contributes as much as 46,8% to the students’ reading comprehension. As a result, the students who have good mastery of vocabulary are good in reading comprehension.
