Abstract
Persepsi adalah cara seseorang melihat, memahami, dan memberi makna terhadap sesuatu berdasarkan apa yang ia rasakan, lihat, dan alami. Persepsi bisa dipengaruhi oleh perhatian, pengalaman, pengetahuan, dan lingkungan sekitar. Di zaman sekarang, media sosial menjadi salah satu tempat di mana persepsi masyarakat terbentuk, termasuk dalam hal budaya. Penelitian ini melihat bagaimana masyarakat memandang budaya Batak lewat unggahan artis Batak di Instagram. Artis-artis ini sering menampilkan budaya Batak seperti pakaian adat, bahasa Batak, atau kegiatan tradisional sebagai bagian dari citra diri mereka. Apa yang mereka tampilkan di Instagram bisa membuat orang lain punya pendapat yang berbeda-beda—ada yang melihatnya sebagai upaya menjaga budaya, ada juga yang menganggap hanya untuk gaya-gayaan. Penelitian ini memakai pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode studi kasus dan mengacu pada paradigma konstruktivisme. Data dikumpulkan lewat observasi dan wawancara mendalam. Jumlah responden dalam penelitian ini ada 12 orang yang aktif menggunakan Instagram.Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa persepsi masyarakat terhadap budaya Batak yang ditampilkan di Instagram sangat beragam. Banyak yang menganggap hal ini positif karena bisa mengenalkan budaya Batak ke generasi muda, tapi ada juga yang merasa kontennya tidak terlalu mewakili budaya asli/Perception is the way someone sees, understands, and gives meaning to something based on what they feel, see, and experience. Perception can be influenced by attention, experience, knowledge, and the surrounding environment. In today's era, social media has become one of the places where public perception is formed, including in terms of culture. This study examines how society views Batak culture through Batak artists' posts on Instagram. These artists often display Batak culture such as traditional clothing, Batak language, or traditional activities as part of their self-image. What they display on Instagram can make others have different opinions—some see it as an effort to preserve culture, while others consider it just for show. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study method and refers to the constructivism paradigm. Data was collected through observation and in-depth interviews. The number of respondents in this study was 12 people who actively use Instagram. The research results show that public perception of Batak culture displayed on Instagram is very diverse. Many consider this positive because it can introduce Batak culture to the younger generation, but some also feel that the content does not really represent authentic culture.
