Abstract

Drama Korea, atau K-Drama telah berkembang menjadi fenomena global yang tidak hanya menjadi hiburan, tetapi juga menciptakan dinamika hubungan cinta. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis pengalaman pasangan dalam hubungan romantis yang dialami penonton drama Korea dan mengetahui makna yang mereka buat dari pengalaman tersebut. Untuk mempelajari pengalaman hidup (lived experience) para partisipan, penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dan metode fenomenologi. Metode pengumpulan data digunakan untuk wawancara pasangan yang aktif menonton drama Korea. Analisis data dilakukan menggunakan teori pemeliharaan hubungan. Studi menunjukkan bahwa menonton drama Korea bersama-sama telah membawa perkembangan dalam hubungan romantis. Dari enam pasangan menedefinisikan drama Korea sebagai “sekolah hubungan”, tempat untuk berpikir tentang diri sendiri, dan referensi praktis untuk mengendalikan dinamika hubungan. Dalam hubungan mereka, enam partisipan menggunakan drama Korea sebagai referensi interaksi yang mendorong eksperimen relasional. Hal ini menghasilkan pengalaman belajar yang membantu menyelesaikan konflik dengan cara yang lebih konstruktif. Drama Korea juga meningkatkan komunikasi, memungkinkan enam informan untuk berbicara lebih bebas tentang apa yang mereka butuhkan dan rasakan. Enam informan ini belajar menerima kenyataan hubungan mereka dan menyadari perbedaan antara apa yang diharapkan media tentang hubungan dengan apa yang sebenarnya terjadi, meskipun mereka terinspirasi oleh drama Korea. Menonton drama Korea bersama tidak hanya menyenangkan, tetapi juga membangun hubungan emosional yang lebih kuat, rasa empati yang lebih besar, dan cara pasangan memahami dan mengekspresikan perasaan satu sama lain. Drama Korea meningkatkan cara pasangan berbicara, baik secara lisan maupun non-verbal, yang menghasilkan jaringan komunikasi yang lebih dalam dan mendalam dalam hubungan romantis mereka. Kata Kunci: Drama Korea, Hubungan Romantis, Pemeliharaan Hubungan / Korean dramas, or K-Dramas, have evolved into a global phenomenon that not only serves as entertainment but also creates dynamics in romantic relationships. The purpose of this research is to analyze the experiences of couples in romantic relationships as experienced by Korean drama viewers and to understand the meanings they derive from those experiences. To study the lived experiences of the participants, this research uses a qualitative approach and phenomenological method. The data collection method used was interviews with couples who actively watch Korean dramas. Data analysis was conducted using relationship maintenance theory. The study shows that watching Korean dramas together has brought developments in romantic relationships. Of the six couples, they defined Korean dramas as a “relationship school,” a place to reflect on oneself, and a practical reference for managing relationship dynamics. In their relationships, six participants used Korean dramas as a reference for interactions that encouraged relational experimentation. This resulted in a learning experience that helped resolve conflicts in a more constructive manner. Korean dramas also enhance communication, allowing the six informants to speak more freely about what they need and feel. These six informants learned to accept the reality of their relationships and recognized the difference between what the media expects from relationships and what actually happens, even though they were inspired by Korean dramas. Watching Korean dramas together is not only enjoyable, but also builds a stronger emotional connection, greater empathy, and a way for couples to understand and express each other’s feelings. Korean dramas enhance the way couples communicate, both verbally and non-verbally, resulting in a deeper and more profound network of communication in their romantic relationships.
