Abstract

Film dokumenter Baduy dalam Jerat Modernisasi menggambarkan dinamika masyarakat Baduy Luar dalam menghadapi tekanan modernisasi, khususnya melalui penetrasi teknologi digital seperti penggunaan QRIS, gawai, serta keterlibatan dalam media sosial. Penulisan naskah dokumenter ini menggunakan pendekatan direct approach dan observasional partisipatif untuk merekam secara alami respons dan refleksi masyarakat terhadap perubahan yang mereka hadapi. Selain itu, struktur naratif disusun berdasarkan kerangka tiga babak, yakni pengenalan situasi, konflik atau pertentangan, serta resolusi atau refleksi atas dinamika yang terjadi. Tujuan dari karya ini adalah untuk memetakan respons sosial-budaya masyarakat Baduy Luar terhadap modernisasi, mengidentifikasi faktor-faktor yang memengaruhi adopsi teknologi, serta memahami bagaimana perubahan tersebut memengaruhi identitas komunitas dan relasi mereka dengan masyarakat Baduy Dalam. Dokumenter ini juga bertujuan membangun kesadaran kritis mengenai isu pelestarian budaya dalam era digital, serta mengajak diskusi lebih luas tentang posisi komunitas adat dalam arus perubahan global. Proses pengembangan ide dan penulisan naskah dalam karya dokumenter ini dilakukan oleh penulis sebagai penulis naskah, yang secara aktif terlibat dalam riset awal dan diskusi tim. Secara akademis, karya ini memberikan kontribusi dalam pengembangan kajian antropologi visual dan sosiologi perubahan sosial. Penerapan pendekatan sinematik berbasis etnografi, melalui pengamatan langsung dan wawancara tanpa skenario, memperkuat dokumenter ini sebagai representasi transformatif masyarakat adat di tengah tekanan modernisasi. Keterlibatan penulis dalam proses kreatif ini menunjukkan bagaimana penulisan naskah dokumenter dapat menjadi bagian penting dalam metode penelitian kualitatif berbasis visual. Kata Kunci: Direct approach, Observasional partisipatif, Struktur tiga babak, Naskah dokumenter, Modernisasi, Budaya adat. / The documentary Baduy in the Grip of Modernization portrays the dynamics within the Outer Baduy community in facing the pressures of modernization, particularly through the penetration of digital technology such as the use of QRIS, electronic devices, and involvement in social media. The screenplay of this documentary adopts a direct approach and participatory observation to naturally capture the community’s responses and reflections toward the changes they are undergoing. Additionally, the narrative structure is developed based on the three-act framework, consisting of the introduction of the situation, the emergence of conflict or tension, and the resolution or reflection on the dynamics that occur. The objective of this work is to map the socio-cultural responses of the Outer Baduy community to modernization, to identify the factors influencing the adoption of modern technology, and to understand how these changes affect community identity and their relationship with the Inner Baduy community. This documentary also aims to raise critical awareness regarding cultural preservation in the digital era and to encourage broader discussions about the position of indigenous communities amid global transformation. The process of idea development and scriptwriting in this documentary was carried out by the author in the role of the scriptwriter, who was actively involved in the initial research and team discussions. Academically, this work contributes to the development of visual anthropology and the sociology of social change. The application of an ethnography-based cinematic approach—through direct observation and unscripted interviews—enhances the documentary as a transformative representation of an indigenous community under the pressure of modernization. The author’s involvement in the creative process also demonstrates how documentary scriptwriting can serve as an integral part of qualitative visual research methodology.
