Abstract
Penelitian korelasional ini dilakukan untuk menemukan hubungan antara sikap membaca dan pemahaman membaca siswa. Untuk mencapai tujuan tersebut, data dikumpulkan melalui tes dan kuesioner kepada siswa kelas sebelas SMA 17 Agustus 1945 selama semester genap tahun akademik 2018/2019. Menggunakan 52 siswa sebagai subjek, studi korelasional dilakukan dengan membagikan kuesioner untuk mensurvei sikap siswa dan tes untuk mengukur tingkat pemahaman siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ada korelasi positif antara sikap membaca siswa dan pemahaman membaca, namun korelasinya sangat lemah. Tidak ada korelasi yang signifikan antara kedua variabel. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, disarankan kepada semua siswa untuk memperhatikan sikap mereka dalam membaca untuk mengembangkan pemahaman membaca mereka. Guru juga disarankan untuk lebih kreatif dalam mengajar untuk membuat siswa meningkatkan kemauan mereka dalam membaca. Kata kunci: Korelasi, sikap membaca, pemahaman membaca This correlational study was conducted to find the relationship between students’ reading attitude and reading comprehension. To attain the objective, data were collected through tests and questionnaire to the eleventh grade of SMA 17 Agustus 1945 during the even semester of 2018/2019 academic year. Using the 52 students as subjects, the correlational study was conducted by distributing questionnaire to survey the level of students’ attitude and test to measure the level of students’ comprehension. The result showed that there was a positive correlation between students’ reading attitude and reading comprehension but very weak. There was no significant correlation between the two variables. Based on the result of the study, it was suggested to all students to pay attention to their attitude in reading in order to develop their reading comprehension. Teachers are also suggested to be more creative in teaching to make students increase their willingness in reading. Keywords : Correlational, reading attitude, reading comprehension
