Abstract
Cryptococcus dan Candida are opportunistic yeasts that can cause infection on human and if not handle quickly and accordingly can result in a fatal outcome. Antifungal resistance and limited therapy options are serious problems. The efforts of developing antifungal that are highly effective, has minimal side effect, cheap with readily available material in nature is a priority. This research aims to test the effectivity of papaya (Carica papaya L.) seed extract as anti fungal toward Cryptococcus neoformans dan Candida albicans' growth. This is a cross sectional experiment using the methods of the well diffusion on petri disk. The result of this experiment are there is no inhibitions zone on negative control, extract with the concentration of 250 ppm, 500 ppm, 1000 ppm and with a zone of inhibitions on positive control, which is amfotericin B. With this, it can be concluded that papaya (Carica papaya L.) with Bangkok variety seed extract does not have antifungal activity toward Cryptococcus neoformans and Candida albicans' growth. Keywords: Antifungal, Papaya seed extract, Cryptococcus neoformans, Candida albicans.
