Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menunjukkan kesalahan apa yang dilakukan siswa saat menyelesaikan soal teori peluang berbasis masalah dan solusinya berdasarkan metode Newman pada siswa kelas viii SMP Negeri 50 Jakarta tahun pelajaran 2022/2023. Sampel pada penelitian ini yaitu siswa-siswi kelas VIII-A SMP Negeri 50 Jakarta yang berjumlah 33 siswa. Instrument yang digunakan peneliti dalam penelitian ini yaitu tes dan wawancara. Sesuai hasil tes dari 33 siswa tersebut diambil 8 responden untuk diwawancarai untuk mengetahui apa faktor-faktor penyebab kesalahan yang dilakukan siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan siswa melakukan kesalahan disetiap indikator kesalahan berdasarkan metode Newman dimana kesalahan terbanyak dilakukan siswa terdapat pada kesalahan tranformasi soal (Transform Error) dengan persentase 94% dimana hamper semua melakukan kesalahan ini, kemudian kesalahan memahami soal (Comprehension Error) dengan persentase 85% juga merupakan kesalahan yag banyak yang dilakukan oleh siswa, kesalahan keterampilan proses (Process Skill) dengan persentase 85%, kesalahan penulisan jawaban (Encoding Error) dengan persentase 65% dan terakhir kesalahan membaca (Reading Error) dengan persentase 2%. Adapun faktor-faktor penyebab kesalahan yang dilakukan oleh siswa yaitu kurang teliti dalam membaca, lupa dalam mengingat rumus, tidak paham cara mengerjakan penyelesainnya dan tidak bisa memahami soal. Kata Kunci : analisis kesalahan, metode kesalahan Newman, teori peluang. / This research was made with the aim of showing what mistakes students made in solving problems from problem- based opportunity theory material and the solution based o the Newman method in class VIII student junior high school 50 Jakarta in 2022/2023 academic year. The sample in this study was class VIII-A students junior high school 50 Jakarta, totaling 33 students. The instruments used by researchers in this study were tests and interviews. According to the test of the 33 students, 8 respondents were taken to be interviewed to find out what factors caused the mistakes by students. The results showed that students made mistakes in each indicator of error based on the Newman method where the most errors made by students were in the transformation errors with a proportion of 94% where almost all made these mistakes, then mistakes in understanding the questions (comprehension errors) with a proportion of 85% as well. a lot of mistakes made by students, Process Skill errors with a proportion of 85%, Encoding Errors with a proportion of 65% and lastly Reading Errors with a proportion of 2%. The factors that cause mistakes made by students are not careful in reading, forgetting to remember the formula, not understanding how to work on the solution and not being able to understand the problem.
