Abstract

Nigeria as a country in West Africa is a prospective market for Indonesia. This study aims to analyze the form of implementation and the impact of economic diplomacy carried out by Indonesia in diversifying its economy in Nigeria, especially in increasing exports of pharmaceutical products in 2019-2022. This research uses a case study type qualitative research method to explain the results of the research through secondary data obtained from literature study, as well as primary data through interviews. The results of the study show that the form of economic diplomacy carried out by Indonesia to Nigeria is through commercial diplomacy. The intended commercial diplomacy is diplomacy that promotes the interests of the Indonesian government as well as the interests of Indonesian companies by involving actors other than looting abroad. This research found that the collaboration between the Indonesian Embassy in Abuja and the ITPC Lagos played a major role in this commercial diplomacy. Increasing exports of Indonesian pharmaceutical products to Nigeria is carried out through trade mission activities, market visits, business matching, trade exhibitions, education related to trademark registration, business consulting. Meanwhile, the 2019 Indonesia Africa Infrastructure Dialogue (IAID) which brought together government and non-government actors, Indonesian business people and African countries, became a supporting instrument in improving the performance of ITPC Lagos.
