Abstract

This study aims to determine the role of Human Rights Watch in addressing the issue of sexual violence in Somalia. This study uses the concept of Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) proposed by Clive Archer, and sexual violence to explain forms of sexual violence. In describing the concept, qualitative methods are used. The study shows that sexual violence actually happened in Somalia, and the perpetrators of acts of sexual violence were not only from civil society, but also from the government, AMISOM allied militias, and Al-Shabab. Human Rights Watch played its role in research, seeking facts, giving ideas / input, pressing the government, and monitoring political actors involving in sexual violence and violations of human rights.
