Abstract

This study entitled there is no suitability of the level of difficulty with students 'abilities in national exam questions which aims to determine the level of difficulty of students' abilities in national exam questions. The research method used is the library literature study. The data collection technique in this study is that the document is a record of past events. Documents can be in the form of writing, images, or monumental works from a person. Researchers found the method of matching with item response theory (IRT) based on the assumption that there is a mathematical function that describes the relationship between the ability of test participants and the possibility of test participants answering the questions correctly. questions that measure critical thinking skills (HOTS). The composition of the questions is divided based on cognitive levels namely 10-15% (reasoning or higher order thinking skills (HOTS)), as many as 50 - 60% (application), and 25 - 30% (knowledge - understanding). The HOTS problem is expected to make students familiar with questions that require high analytical skills. Keywords: National Exam, Student, Level of Dificulty, and Capability
