Abstract

This research seeks to determine: 1. What is the average intercultural communication competence of tenth-grade students in SMA Negeri 1 Amfoang Selatan? 2. What is the average writing ability of tenth-grade students in SMA Negeri 1 Amfoang Selatan? 3. Is there any significant correlation between intercultural communication competence and the writing skills of tenth-grade students in SMA Negeri 1 Amfoang Selatan? The research subjects were 82 students from the tenth grade at SMA Negeri 1 Amfoang Selatan, consisting of 4 classes. Data collection techniques include filling out questionnaires and writing tests. The data analysis technique uses the Pearson correlation test formula. The results of the study show that: (1) The average intercultural communication competence of tenth-grade students at SMA Negeri 1 Amfoang Selatan is 64.6, in the high category, 99.78, namely in the range (84-100). It can be seen from the scores that the average intercultural communication skills of the tenth-grade students at SMA Negeri 1 Amfoang Selatan were rated as good. (2) The average writing ability of tenth-grade students in SMA Negeri 1 Aamfoang Selatan falls into the satisfactory category with an average score of 64.11 in the range (55-74). It can be concluded that the writing skills of the tenth-grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Amfoang Selatan are sufficient. (3) The correlation between intercultural communication competence and the writing ability of tenth-grade students is very weak and not significant. This correlation is based on a test result of 0.155>0.05 with a significance value of 0.082>0.05, which falls in the very low range (0.00-0.199). It can be concluded that although there is a correlation between intercultural communication competence and writing skills of tenth-grade students in SMA Negeri 1 Amfoang Selatan it is not significant. /It can be seen from the results of this study that the writing ability of tenth-grade students in SMA Negeri 1 Amfoang Selatan is not only influenced by intercultural communication skills but also by external factors./Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah: 1. Untuk mengetahui berapa rata-rata kemampuan komunikasi antar budaya siswa kelas X SMA Negeri 1 Amfoang Selatan? 2. Untuk mengetahui berapa rata-rata kemampuan menulis siswa kelas X SMA Negeri 1 Amfoang Selatan? 3. Adakah hubungan yang signifikan antara keterampilan komunikasi antarbudaya dengan keterampilan menulis siswa kelas X di SMA Negeri 1 Amfoang Selatan? Subjek penelitian adalah siswa kelas X yang berjumlah 82 orang yang terdiri dari empat kelas di SMA Negeri 1 Amfoang Selatan. Teknik pengumpulan data meliputi pengisian angket dan tes menulis. Metode analisis data menggunakan rumus uji korelasi person. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: (1) Rata-rata kompetensi komunikasi antarbudaya siswa kelas X SMA Negeri 1 Amfoang Selatan adalah 64,6 dengan kategori tinggi yaitu 99,78 yaitu pada rentang (84-100); Dari hasil tersebut terlihat bahwa rata-rata kemampuan komunikasi antarbudaya siswa Kelas X SMA Negeri 1 Amfoang Selatan tergolong baik. (2) Rata-rata kemampuan menulis siswa kelas X SMA Negeri 1 Amfoang Selatan masuk dalam kategori memuaskan dengan skor rata-rata 64,11 pada rentang (55-74). Dapat disimpulkan bahwa keterampilan menulis siswa kelas X SMA Negeri 1 Amfoang Selatan adalah cukup. (3) Korelasiantara keterampilan komunikasi antarbudaya dengan kemampuan menulis siswa kelas X sangat lemah dan tidak signifikan. Hasil pengujian menunjukan nilai korelasi sebesar 0,155 > 0,05, dan nilai signifikansinya sebesar 0,082 > 0,05 berada pada rentang yang sangat rendah (0,00-0,199). Dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat korelasi antara keterampilan komunikasi antarbudaya dengan keterampilan menulis siswa kelas X di SMA Negeri 1 Amfoang Selatan, namun korelasi tersebut tidak signifikan. Dari hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan menulis siswa kelas X SMA Negeri 1 Amfoang Selatan tidak hanya dipengaruhi oleh kemampuan komunikasi antarbudaya tetapi juga oleh faktor eksternal.
