Abstract
Berbicara merupakan keterampilan krusial dalam pemerolehan bahasa kedua. Karena persepsi siswa memengaruhi motivasi, keterlibatan, dan prestasi mereka, penting untuk menyelidiki bagaimana mereka memandang kegiatan pembelajaran yang bertujuan untuk mengembangkan keterampilan berbicara. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menyelidiki persepsi siswa terhadap kegiatan Klub Bahasa Inggris sebagai sarana untuk meningkatkan keterampilan berbicara mereka di SMPN 182 Jakarta. Penelitian ini berfokus pada apakah kegiatan ekstrakurikuler yang diselenggarakan oleh Klub Bahasa Inggris mengembangkan motivasi, kepercayaan diri, dan kelancaran berbicara siswa. Klub Bahasa Inggris dirancang untuk menyediakan lingkungan informal dan interaktif di mana siswa dapat berlatih berbicara bahasa Inggris dengan lebih bebas, di luar tekanan penilaian kelas formal. Dengan menggunakan metode deskriptif kuantitatif, data dikumpulkan melalui kuesioner tertutup yang dibagikan kepada 60 siswa yang aktif berpartisipasi dalam Klub Bahasa Inggris. Instrumen ini mengukur tiga indikator utama: motivasi dan kesenangan, membangun kepercayaan diri, dan kelancaran. Data dianalisis menggunakan statistik deskriptif dan rumus Mean Rate untuk menginterpretasikan persepsi siswa. Temuan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa siswa memiliki persepsi yang sangat positif terhadap kegiatan Klub Bahasa Inggris, dengan tingkat respons keseluruhan sebesar 82,4%, yang dikategorikan "sangat tinggi." Siswa melaporkan bahwa partisipasi dalam Klub Bahasa Inggris membuat mereka lebih termotivasi dan percaya diri untuk berbicara, mengurangi rasa takut mereka membuat kesalahan, dan meningkatkan kemampuan mereka untuk mengungkapkan ide dengan lancar./Speaking is a crucial skill in second language acquisition. Since students' perceptions influence their motivation, engagement, and achievement, it is important to investigate how they perceive learning activities aimed at developing speaking skills. This study aims to investigate students' perceptions of English Club activities as a means to improve their speaking skills at SMPN 182 Jakarta. This study focuses on whether extracurricular activities organized by the English Club develop students' motivation, confidence, and speaking fluency. English Club is designed to provide an informal and interactive environment where students can practice speaking English more freely, outside the pressure of formal classroom assessments. Using a quantitative descriptive method, data were collected through a closed-ended questionnaire distributed to 60 students actively participating in the English Club. The instrument measured three main indicators: motivation and enjoyment, confidence building, and speaking fluency. Data were analysed using descriptive statistics and the Mean Rate formula to interpret students' perceptions. The study findings indicated that students had a very positive perception of English Club activities, with an overall response rate of 82.4%, categorized as "Very High." Students reported that participation in English Club made them more motivated and confident to speak, reduced their fear of making mistakes, and improved their ability to express ideas fluently.
