Abstract
Kriptokokosis merupakan infeksi oportunistik yang disebabkan oleh jamur berkapsul Cryptococcus neoformans. Penyakit ini dapat menginfeksi individu imunokompromis seperti penderita HIV/AIDS ataupun individu imunokompeten. Kotoran burung merpati diketahui telah menjadi reservoir bagi pertumbuhan jamur Cryptococcus neoformans. Sampel kotoran burung yang digunakan pada penelitian ini berasal dari Pasar Hewan Jatinegara, Jakarta Timur. Pasar Hewan merupakan contoh dari tempat yang telah tercemar oleh kotoran burung seperti merpati, hal tersebut mungkin dapat mendukung perkembangan Cryptococcus neoformans. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif dengan pendekatan Crosssectional dengan total 85 sampel yang digunakan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui keberadaan jamur Cryptococcus neoformans yang terdapat pada kotoran burung merpati di Pasar Hewan Jatinegara. Peneltian ini menggunakan metode pemeriksaan kultur Saboroud Dextrose Agar dan Bird Seed Agar sebagai medium untuk mengidentifikasi jamur tersebut, dan dilanjutkan dengan metode pemeriksaan langsung dengan pengggunaan tinta India. Hasil pada penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa 11 dari 85(12,94%) sampel kotoran burung merpati yang telah diuji dinyatakan positif mengandung jamur Cryptococcus neoformans. Berdasarkan uji sensifitas terhadap beberapa antijamur, jamur Cryptococcus neoformans tersebut masih sensitif (100%) terhadap anti jamur ketokonazole. Penemuan ini menunjukan bahwa lingkungan di daerah Pasar Hewan Jatinegara dapat menjadi ancaman penyebaran jamur Cryptococcus neoformans sehingga perlu dilakukan tindakan pencegahan. Kata kunci : Cryptococcus neoformans, kotoran burung merpati, penderita AIDS. / Cryptococcosis is oportunistic infection which caued by encapsulated fungus Cryptococcus neoformans. This disease infects immunocompromised individuals such as HIV/AIDS sufferers or immunocompetent individuals. Pigeon droppings are known to be a reservoir for the growth of the fungus Cryptococcus neoformans. The samples of bird droppings which used in this study came from Jatinegara Animal Market located in East Jakarta. Animal markets are examples of places polluted by bird droppigs such as pigeons. This condition can support the development of the fungus like Cryptococcus neoformans. This study used descriptive method with cross-sectional approach with a total of 85 samples has been used. This study aims to determine of the presence of Cryptococcus neoformans ini pigeon droppings at Jatinegara Animal Market. This study used the Saboroud Dextrose Agar and Bird Seed Agar culture examination method as a medium to identification the fungus and conntinued with the direct examination method with use of Indian ink. The results of this study indicate that 11 of 85 (12,94%) samples of pigeon droppings that have been tested positive for containing the fungus Cryptococcus neoformans. Based on sensitivity tests for several antifungals, the fungus Cryptococcus neoformans is still sensitive (100%) to antifungal ketokonazole. These results indicate that the environmet in the Jatinegara Animal Market can be a threat to spread of the fungus Cryptococcus neoformans, so that necesary precautions are taken.
