Abstract

Penelitian yang bertujuan untuk (1) mengkaji hasil terjemahan subtitle Notting Hill dari segi akurasi dan keberterimaan, (2) menganalisa strategi penerjemahan yang digunakan dalam penerjemahan yang membawakan hasil buruk dari segi keakuratan dan keberterimaan. Jenis penelitian yang diterapkan adalah penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Sumber data penelitian ini adalah film Notting Hill beserta subtitle baik dalam Bahasa inggris dan Bahasa indoneisa, dan 3 orang rater yang bertugas untuk menilai hasil terjemahan dari sefi keakuratan dan keberterimaan. Data penelitian ini berupa subtitle film Notting Hill dalam Bahasa inggris dan Bahasa Indonesia, dan hasil dari kuesioner sekaligus wawancara mendalam dengan rater mengenai tingkat keakuratan dan keberterimaan terjemahan. Penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa hasil terjemahan subtitle film Notting Hill memiliki tingkat yang kurang baik dari segi keakurat dan keberterimaan. Dari 73 data yang dianalisa, 21 termasuk kategori akurat, 46 data kurang akurat, dan 6 data tidak akurat. Sedangkan pada keberterimaan, dari 73 data yang dianalisa, 29 data termasuk pada kategori natural, 34 kurang natural, dan 10 tidak natural. Hasil penelitian untuk strategi penerjemahan yang menghasilkan terjemahan tidak akurat menggunakan strategi transfer, paraphrase, condensation + expansion and paraphrase + transfer. Sedangkan untuk strategi penerjemahan yang menghasilkan terjemahan tidak natural berupa transfer, condensation + expansion, paraphrase + transfer, and condensation + transfer. / This research aims to (1) examine the translation quality of Notting Hill subtitles in terms of accuracy and acceptability, (2) analyze the translation strategies used in translation which bring poor results in terms of accuracy and acceptability. The type of research applied is descriptive qualitative research. The data source for this research is the film Notting Hill along with subtitles in both English and Indonesian, and 3 raters whose job is to assess the translation results in terms of accuracy and acceptability. The data for this study are in the form of subtitles for the film Notting Hill in English and Indonesian, and the results of a questionnaire as well as in-depth interviews with raters regarding the level of accuracy and acceptability of the translation. This study indicate that the results of the Notting Hill film subtitle translation have a poor level in terms of accuracy and acceptability. Of the 73 data analyzed, 21 were included in the accurate category, 46 data were less accurate, and 6 data were inaccurate. Whereas in terms of acceptability, of the 73 data analyzed, 29 data are the acceptable category, 34 are less acceptable, and 10 are unacceptable. The research results for translation strategies that produce inaccurate translations use transfer, paraphrase, condensation + expansion and paraphrase + transfer strategies. As for translation strategies that produce unnatural translations in the form of transfer, condensation + expansion, paraphrase + transfer, and condensation + transfer.
