Abstract
Menentukan kekasaran permukaan suatu komponan sangatlah penting dalam industry manufaktur. kualitas suatu produk sering kali ditentukan oleh tingkat kekasaran permukaankomponennya baik dalam proses manufaktur mau pun pada produk akhir. Dalam literature dan praktek sudah dikembangkan berbagai metode untuk menentukan tingkat kekasaran permukaan dalam suatu proses manufaktur yang menggunakan mesin perkakas. Namun demikian masih sedikit metode untuk menentukan kekasaran yang cukup memadai dan mudah digunakan. Dalam makalah ini metode Cluster Analysis dikembangkan untuk menentukan parameters permesinan, yaitu: cutting speed (Vc), Feeding (F), dan Dept of Cut (Ap) guna mendapatkan tingkat kekasaran permukaan yang memadai. Studi kasis dilakukan unutk menguji metode tersebut. Penelitian ini mendemostrasikan bahwa metode yang dikembangkan dapat digunakan untuk menentukan alternative parameter permesinan guna menghasilkan tingkat kekasaran yang memadai. Disamping itu penelitian ini juga mengindikasikan bahwa metode yang dikembangkan cukup mudah dipelajari dan dipakai. Studi kasus juga memperlihatkan tingkat kekasaran permukaan yang dihasilkan berkontribusi dalam penurunan biaya. Kata Kunci : Surface Roughness, Finish Turning, Analisa Cluster Determining the surface roughness of a compound is very important in the manufacturing industry. the quality of a product is often determined by its surface roughness level both in the manufacturing process and in the final product. In the literature and practice have been developed various methods to determine the level of surface roughness in a manufacturing process using machine tools. However, there are still few methods to determine the roughness that is sufficient and easy to use. In this paper the Cluster Analysis method was developed to determine the machining parameters, namely: cutting speed (Vc), Feeding (F), and Dept of Cut (Ap) in order to obtain an adequate level of surface roughness. The case study was conducted to test the method. This research demonstrates that the developed method can be used to determine the alternative parameters of machining to produce an adequate level of roughness. In addition, this study also indicates that the developed method is quite easy to learn and use. The case studies also show the resulting surface roughness level’s contributes to the decrease in manufacturing costs. Keywords: Surface Roughness, Finish Turning, Cluster Analysis
