Abstract

Ingestion of food or water infected with intestinal protozoan cysts or direct fecal-oral transmission are the two main ways that this infection spreads. This study aims to ascertain the relationship between personal cleanliness, intestinal parasite infections, and diarrheal symptoms. A systematic review was employed as the research method. According to the study's conclusions, asymptomatic intestinal protozoa, which frequently cause diarrhea, are an issue that is common in poor nations, including Indonesia. This is a result of Indonesia's position in the tropics, where the weather is hot yet humid. Intestinal parasites can spread through contaminated food, drinks, the air, or directly through contaminated hands, unclean water, and areas with a high population density.
