Abstract

English literary appreciation projects are recommended ways to boost students’ English language mastery, applicable in online and offline class settings. The recent virtual English classes trigger a need to find the best ways to assess students’ productions and performances. English literary appreciation projects require an assessment that can accommodate students’ competencies in all aspects that cover the development of the language and the appreciation of English literature. Correspondingly, digital-based authentic assessment appears to be an appropriate option for assessing students’ English literary appreciation in the virtual learning context. Purposively, this writing explores the practical ways to assess English literary appreciation projects, including examples. It is hoped that English teachers may have clear pictures of the actual practices of assessing literary appreciation in the virtual context. Keywords: Authentic assessment, literary appreciation, project, ELT.
