Abstract

Penggunaan tata bahasa yang tepat akan menyampaikan pesan yang bermakna. Namun, sebagian besar siswa masih menggunakan struktur bahasa yang salah. Penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK) 2 siklus ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan penguasaan tata bahasa siswa dengan menggunakan teknik Mistake Buster. Ada 4 pertemuan dalam setiap siklus. Pesertanya adalah 30 siswa kelas tujuh A di SMPN 50 Jakarta pada semester genap tahun ajaran 2019/2020. Data penelitian ini terdiri dari tes, lembar observasi, angket terbuka, dan catatan harian. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa penggunaan teknik Mistake Buster dapat meningkatkan penguasaan tata bahasa siswa yang ditunjukkan dengan adanya peningkatan skor rata-rata siswa. Nilai rata-rata dari hasil tes awal adalah 44,55 untuk tes awal, 53,66 untuk tes akhir I, dan 72,16 untuk tes akhir II. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa pengajaran simple present tense dengan menggunakan Mistake Buster kepada siswa kelas VII berhasil. Oleh karena itu, peneliti menyarankan agar teknik pengajaran ini diterapkan di kelas bahasa Inggris secara terus menerus. Kata Kunci: Action Research, Grammar, Mistake Buster./ Proper use of grammar will convey meaningful messages. However, It is found out that most students still use incorrect structures. This two-cycled classroom action research (CAR) was intended to enhance students’ grammar mastery by using Mistake Buster. There are 4 meetings in every cycle. The participants were 30 students of seven-A class at SMPN 50 Jakarta in the even semester of 2019/2020 Academic Year. The data for this research consisted of tests, observation sheet, open-ended questionnaire, and diary notes. The results revealed that using Mistake Buster enhanced the participants’ grammar mastery. It is showed by the advancement of their average scores. The mean score of the result is 44.55 for pre-test, 53.66 for post-test I, and 72.16 for post-test II. It is included that teaching simple present test tense by using Mistake Buster to seventh grade students is successful. Thus, the researcher suggested this teaching technique be applied in English classroom persistently and continuously. Keywords: Action Research, Grammar, Mistake Buster
