Abstract
Beberapa penelitian telah mendiskusikan kecemasan berbahasa dan korelasinya dengan variabel yang lainnya. Tetapi penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meneliti korelasi antara kecemasan berbahasa dan kinera pemahaman membaca khususnya di tingkat sekolah menengah pertama pada kelas delapan SMPN 49 jakarta dengan total 100 orang peserta. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain korelasi dan menggunakan kuestioner dan tes untuk mengumpulkan data. Deskiptif statistik dan korelasi spearman rho juga digunakan untuk menganalisis data yang ada. Hasil penemuan menunjukan bahwa kebanyakan peserta berada pada natural kategori pada hasil kecemasan dan skor yang sangat bagus pada tes pemahaman membaca. Analisis statisik menemukan bahwa r= -.237 dengan tingkat signifikansi 0.017 yang artinya bahwa korelasinya negatif dan signifikan, dan kedua variabel berefek signifikan satu sama lain. Bisa disimpulkan bahwa hipotesis alternatif di terima sedangkan hipotesis no ditolak./ Some studies have been discussed language anxiety and their correlation with other variables. However, this study aims to investigate the correlation between language anxiety and reading comprehension performance, especially on junior high school level of the eighth-grade students of SMPN 49 Jakarta with the total participants was 100 students. The study used a correlational design and used a questionnaire and test to collect the data. Descriptive statistic and Spearman rho correlation also used to analyze the data. The findings revealed that most participants have a neutral category of anxiety and have a perfect score on reading comprehension test. The statistical analysis showed that r = -.237 and the level of sig. (2-tailed) is 0.017, which means that its negatively and significantly correlated, and both variables significantly affected each other. It can be concluded that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) of the research is accepted, while the null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected.
