Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meneliti mengenai korelasi antara kemampuan berbicara dan keahlian menulis pada mahasiswa calon pendidik pada semester 4,6 dan, 7 di Universitas Kristen Indonesia. Jumlah partisipan dalam penelitian ini sebanyak 30 siswa yang terdiri atas 29 perempuan dan 1 orang laki laki. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain korelasional. Pengumpulan data menggunakan instrumen tes berbicara dan tes menulis. Adapun hasil tes dinilai oleh tiga penilai ahli. Analisis Deskriptif dengan menggunakan Pearson Product Moment Correlation serta analisis regresi telah dilakukan. Berdasarkan hasil data analisis, ditemukan bahwa r hitung (0.451) < rtable (0.12) dengan nilai signifikan yang lebih besar dari 0.05. Hasil tersebut mengindentifikasi bahwa terdapat korelasi yang positif antara kemampuan berbicara dan kemampuan menulis. Dengan hasil tersebut, peneliti menguji analisis regresi untuk mencari tahu pengaruh penampilan ketika berbicara terhadap kemampuan menulis. Dari analisis ini ada kemungkinan ketika kemampuan berbicara tinggi maka akan tinggi juga tingkat kemampuan menulisnya. Pada hasil uji korelasi ditemukan bahwa kedua variabel ini memiliki hubungan positif maka ini menunjukkan bahwa penampilan ketika berbicara yang baik akan mempengaruhi tingkat kemampuan menulis siswa, begitupun sebaliknya apabila kemampuan menulis tidak baik maka kemampuan berbicara juga akan turun./ The purpose of this study to examine the correlation between speaking performance and writing ability among pre-service EFL Teachers in semesters 4,6 and 7 at Universitas Kristen Indonesia. The number of participants in this study was 30 students consisting of 29 women and 1 man. This study uses a correlational design. The data collection used instruments speaking test and writing test. The test results were assessed by three expert raters. Descriptive analysis using Pearson Product Moment Correlation and regression analysis was carried out. Based on the analysis data, it was found that r count (0.451) < r table (0.12) with a significant value higher than 0.05. These results identify that there is a positive correlation between speaking and writing skills. With these results, the researcher tested the regression analysis to find out the effect of speaking appearance on writing skills. From this analysis, there is a possibility that when speaking ability is high, the writing ability will also be high. In the results of the correlation test, it was found that these two variables have a positive relationship, this shows that good speaking performance will affect the level of students' writing skills, and vice versa if the writing ability is not good, speaking ability will also decrease.
