Abstract

Introduction: Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever is an infectious disease caused by an acute dengue virus that attacks all ages, including children, and if not treated properly, DHF can reduce children's quality of life, shock to death. Objective: Gain real experience in carrying out Nursing Care for Children with DHF. Method: Descriptive case study with nursing process approach through interview, observation, and physical examination. This case study was conducted on two patients with the same medical diagnosis. Results: The results of the case study showed that the priority nursing diagnosis in both patients was fluid volume deficit associated with increased capillary permeability characterized by decreased skin turgor, sunken eyes, dry lip mucosa. Additional diagnoses were pain, nutritional deficit and knowledge deficit. The problem in the first patient was resolved on the third day of treatment, while the problem in the second patient on the third day of treatment was partially resolved, so it still requires further implementation. Conclusion:. Giving fluids to children with DHF is an effective method to prevent dehydration by paying attention to vital signs, signs of dehydration, fluid balance including intake and output, and laboratory values.
