Abstract

The Faculty of Medicine-Universitas Kristen Indonesia (FM-UKI) implemented a new curiculum called competence-based curiculum (CBC) recently, using a problem based learning (PBL) approach. In conjunction with this, Task Force for HIV & AIDS of FM-UKI establisheda module for HIV & AIDS. Prior to incorporate the module to the core curiculum, a one-month try out was conducted. Seventy six students from 8 to 9 semester were involved in this try out, divided into 2 intervention groups, consisting of 19 and 28 students, and one control group with 29 students. Tutoroial sessions were done every Monday and Thursday. Short lectures focusing on important and recent issues with respect to the objective of the scenarios were given everyday except Monday and Thursday. Students took 3 written test i.e. pre-, post-test, and a final test. At the end, an Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) was carried out for intervention groups: Students also evaluated tutors, modules and the learing process.
