Abstract

Kata Kunci : Amerika Serikat, Iran, Selat Hormuz, Stabilitas Keamanan / The Strait of Hormuz is located between the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman. The Strait of Hormuz has strategic value because it connects the Arabian Sea trade route to the Indian Ocean from the Middle East region to countries in the Asian and European continents. The United States (US) and Iran both have strategic interests in maintaining the security stability of the Strait of Hormuz. Since 1979, the two countries have been in conflict, culminating in the killing of Iran's military commander General Qassem Soleimani on the orders of President Donald Trump on January 3, 2020. This resulted in security disturbances in the Strait of Hormuz with Iran's threat to close the Straits of traffic. This study aims to determine the impact of the US-Iran conflict on the security stability of the Strait of Hormuz. These problems were analyzed using the concept of Conflict and Maritime Security with Qualitative Analytical Research Methods based on primary and secondary data. The results of this study found that the increasing conflict and escalation of tensions between the US and Iran resulted in fluctuations in the stability of maritime security in the Strait of Hormuz which disrupted trading activities through the Strait in the form of reducing oil dependence through the Strait and diverting trade routes by countries using the Strait of Hormuz. Key words : United States, Iran, Strait of Hormuz, Security Stability
