Abstract

This research aims to determine the relationship between interpersonal communications of child drug users to parents (case study of teenagers in Cibubur area). The lack of harmony in a family can basically be seen from the communication that exists between family members, especially children to parents. As a result of several factors such as parents' busyness and indifference towards children often causes the child's attitude to change in the negatif direction and one of them is to become a drug user. In this research, by using descriptive qualitative research methods by conducting interviews and direct observation and using teori dialogis, the researchers wanted to analyze how interpersonal communication between drug users to their parents, how the communication model, verbal and non-verbal communication and what factors which causes communication between the two is not effective so that it can be known the relationship between interpersonal communication of drug users to parents in general. The locus in the Cibubur area was used as a place for the study's case because many of the research friends in the Cibubur area were using drugs which caused their interpersonal relationships with parents to be out of harmony. In this research, researchers found that the relationship between interpersonal communications of drug users to parents can be seen from poor verbal and non-verbal communication, aggressive and controlled communication styles, diverse but ineffective communication models due to factors such as their respective attitudes which is indifferent and not open. Thus it can be seen that the relationship between interpersonal communications of drug users to parents is not harmonious and that communication is not effective because it does not produce a harmonious relationship.
