Abstract
The prevalence of Indonesian population is 61.3% consuming sugary foods or drinks more than once a day. Type II Diabetes Mellitus is a chronic metabolic disease caused by insulin disorders that cause increased blood sugar. Indonesia is ranked Sth in the world with 19.5 million sufferers. This condition can cause complications such as kidney, eye, nerve, and heart damage. Objective: To evaluate the effectiveness of GDS observation and insulin therapy on blood sugar stability in Type II DM patients at Budhi Asih Regional General Hospital, Jakarta. Methods: This research is a descriptive case study of two Type II DM patients. Data were collected through direct observation, interviews, and medical documentation review. Nursing interventions included monitoring random blood sugar levels and administering insulin therapy based on patient needs. Results: Insulin therapy adjusted to the patient's condition and regular GDS observation helped stabilize blood sugar levels. The results obtained in patient 1 were GDS 317, while in patient 2 GDS 386, no acute complications were found during the observation period. Conclusion: Timely blood glucose monitoring and insulin therapy have been shown to be effective in maintaining stable blood sugar levels and preventing complications. The role of nurses in education, monitoring, and family involvement is crucial for the successful management of patients with type II diabetes.
