Abstract
The dominance of American pop culture through digital media has led to a significant phenomenon of Westernization, which has impacted the formation of identity and lifestyle in Indonesia. This study aims to analyze the impact of American pop culture Westernization on the lifestyle of Indonesia's Generation Z in the digital era. This study uses a descriptive qualitative methodology in a case study research design, collecting data through in-depth interviews. Data analysis uses Jean Baudrillard's Hyperreality theory to explain how media images create simulated realities (simulacra) that are considered more authentic than actual social realities. This study also uses the concept of Westernization to analyze the process of adopting Western values that influence local identity, as well as the concept of Pop Culture as an instrument of soft power that spreads ideology, trends, and lifestyles globally. The results of this study show three main impacts. First, the emergence of hybrid identity, where Generation Z expresses itself by mixing global and local values. Second, the development of a Western-oriented lifestyle is evident in the enthusiastic acceptance of American pop culture symbols, including fashion trends (streetwear and Y2K), music, language (slang), and modern lifestyles (self-love, hustle culture, dating culture, and night life culture). Third, the shift in local cultural values displaced by Western modernity. This indicates that pop culture is an effective way to change the mindset of Indonesia's younger generation.
