Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui bagaimana bentuk-bentuk krisis eksistensi yang dialami oleh para pengguna Instagram terutama dalam pengguna fitur “Add Yours”. Konsep yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah eksistensi diri, yang menjelaskan bahwa seseorang yang mengalami krisis eksistensi dalam media sosial ketika seseorang memanfaatkan media sosial sebagai ajang eksistensi, yang selalu berjuang agar tidak tersaingi dan tidak pernah merasa puas terhadap hal yang dilakukannya. Orang menggunakan media untuk berbagai alasan seperti mencari informasi dan hiburan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif yang bersifat deskriptif menggunakan wawancara mendalam dengan 5 informan yang dipilih berdasarkan teknik purposive sampling dan memakai paradigma konstruktivis. Berdasarkan analisis yang sudah peneliti lakukan dalam penelitian ini diketahui kelima informan yang telah diwawancarai mereka ingin menunjukan eksistensinya karena mereka mengalami krisis eksistensi di dalam dunia nyata. Oleh karena itu mereka mencari eksistensinya melalui Instagram. Alasan mereka untuk menggunakan fitur “Add Yours” tentunya untuk mengikuti tren, memamerkan segala sesuatu terkait dirinya sendiri, mencari perhatian terhadap lawan jenis yang disukai, dan menambah pertemanan dalam sesuatu yang disukai bersama. Selain itu penggunaan fitur “Add Yours” juga akan terus memaksa para penggunanya untuk menampilkan dirinya dan akan selalu ada di dalam timeline story pengguna lain, merasakan Fear of Missing Out (FoMO), dan Instagramxiety. Kata Kunci: Instagram, Fitur “Add Yours”, Eksistensi Diri, Krisis Eksistensi, Eksistensi diri di Media Sosial. / This study aims to find out how the forms of existence crisis experienced by Instagrammers, especially users of the "Add Yours" feature. The concept used in this study is self-existence, which explains that someone who experiences an existential crisis in social media when someone uses social media as a means of existence, who always struggles to be unrivaled and never feels satisfied with what he does. People use media for various reasons such as seeking information and entertainment. This study used a descriptive qualitative research method using in-depth interviews with 5 informants who were selected based on a purposive sampling technique and used a constructivist paradigm. Based on the analysis that the researcher has done in this study, it is known that the five informants who have been interviewed want to show their existence because they are experiencing an existential crisis in the real world. There fore they seek their existence through Instagram. Their reasons for using the "Add Yours" feature are, of course, to follow trends, show off everything related to themselves, seek attention to the opposite sex they like, and add friendship in something they like together. In addition, the use of the "Add Yours" feature will also continue to force its users to present themselves and will always be in the timeline of other users' stories, feel Fear of Missing Out (FoMO), and Instagram xiety.
