Abstract

Pandemi COVID-19 membuat perubahan pada setiap aspek kehidupan, salah satunya yaitu pendidikan. Dengan dikeluarkannya surat keputusan dari Kementerian Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan dalam menangani dan mengurangi tingkat kenaikan COVID-19 di lingkungan sekolah, untuk pertama kalinya sekolah-sekolah di Indonesia melakukan kegiatan pembelajaran secara virtual. Oleh karena itu, peneliti tertarik untuk melakukan penelitian. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui persepsi siswa terhadap penggunaan aplikasi Google Classroom yang digunakan sebagai alat pembelajaran daring di kelas Bahasa Inggris. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian survei yang dilakukan di SMPN 230 Jakarta. Penelitian ini melibatkan 60 siswa sebagai responden. Siswa diambil dari kelas sembilan (9I & 9J). Dalam penelitian ini, data yang digunakan diambil menggunakan kuesioner yang disebarkan secara daring melalui aplikasi WhatsApp. Kuesioner terdiri dari 6 indikator yang melengkapi penelitian tersebut. Peneliti terlebih dahulu melakukan uji validitas dan reliabilitas sebelum mengumpulkan data. Data yang terkumpul kemudian dianalisis dan dijelaskan dengan menggunakan teknik analisis deskriptif. Berdasarkan hasil analisis, dapat disimpulkan bahwa penggunaan aplikasi Google Classroom di kelas Bahasa Inggris sangat memberikan pengaruh positif terhadap pembelajaran siswa. Dengan adanya aplikasi Google Classroom yang dilengkapi dengan fitur-fitur yang dibutuhkan untuk mendukung pembelajaran secara virtual, sangat membantu kegiatan pembelajaran siswa di tengah situasi pandemi COVID- 19. Selain itu, penggunaan aplikasi Google Classroom sangat membantu siswa dan guru dalam melakukan proses belajar mengajar secara daring di tengah situasi pandemi COVID-19.Kata kunci: persepsi siswa, Google Classroom, sekolah menengah Pertama. / The COVID-19 pandemic has changed every aspect of life, one of which is education. With the issuance of a decree from the Ministry of Education and Culture in response to reducing the rate of increase in COVID-19 in the school environment, schools in Indonesia are conducting virtual learning activities for the first time. Therefore, the researcher is interested in conducting research. This study aims to determine students' perceptions of using the Google Classroom application, which is an online learning tool in English classes. This research is a survey research conducted at SMPN 230 Jakarta. This study involved 60 students as respondents. Students are drawn from ninth grade (9I & 9J). In this study, the data were taken using a questionnaire distributed online through WhatsApp. The questionnaire consists of 6 indicators that complement the research. The researcher first conducted validation and reliability tests before collecting data. Then, the data were collected, analyzed, and explained using descriptive analysis techniques. Based on the analysis results, it can be concluded that the use of the Google Classroom application in English class positively influences student learning. Therefore, the Google Classroom application, which is equipped with the features needed to support virtual learning, is beneficial for student learning activities during the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition, using the Google Classroom application is helpful for students and teachers in carrying out the online teaching and learning process during the COVID-19 pandemic.
