Abstract
Paris Fashion Week, sebagai salah satu ajang mode paling bergengsi di dunia, memiliki pengaruh besar terhadap perkembangan industri fashion dan budaya di Indonesia. Industri fashion Indonesia memiliki potensi besar dalam perekonomian kreatif, namun kesiapan industri ini dalam bersaing di panggung global masih menjadi tantangan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji dampak acara tersebut terhadap tren lokal, kolaborasi kreatif, serta citra budaya Indonesia di tingkat internasional dengan menggunakan kerangka konsep Nation Branding oleh Simon Anholt dan Soft Power oleh Joseph Nye. Studi ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif berbasis studi kasus, dengan data yang dikumpulkan melalui wawancara mendalam dan kajian literatur yang relevan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dampak Paris Fashion Week terhadap industri fashion dan budaya di Indonesia adalah signifikan dalam beberapa aspek strategis. Pertama, terjadi peningkatan ekspor dan perluasan pasar global, terlihat dari akses desainer atau brand yang mengglobal. Kedua, acara ini mendorong pertumbuhan investasi dan industri kreatif, khususnya melalui kolaborasi antara pelaku usaha lokal dengan mitra internasional dalam hal produksi, distribusi, dan promosi. Ketiga, terdapat peningkatan daya saing fashion Indonesia, yang tercermin dalam kualitas desain, inovasi bahan, dan positioning merek yang semakin kompetitif di dalam negeri maupun di kancah global. Keempat, Paris Fashion Week juga berkontribusi terhadap penguatan budaya melalui fashion, dengan mendorong para desainer untuk menampilkan identitas budaya Indonesia secara kreatif dan relevan dengan tren global, sehingga memperkuat citra Indonesia sebagai negara dengan warisan budaya yang kaya dan dinamis. Kata Kunci: Fashion; Nation Branding; Paris Fashion Week; Soft Power / Paris Fashion Week , as one of the most prestigious fashion events in the world, has a significant influence on the development of the fashion industry and cultural landscape in Indonesia. Indonesia’s fashion industry holds great potential within the creative economy, yet its readiness to compete on the global stage remains a challenge. This study aims to examine the impact of the event on local trends, creative collaborations, and the international image of Indonesian culture by applying the conceptual frameworks of Nation Branding by Simon Anholt and Soft power by Joseph Nye. The study employs a qualitative case study approach, with data collected through in-depth interviews and relevant literature review. The findings indicate that Paris Fashion Week has a significant impact on Indonesia’s fashion industry and culture in several strategic aspects. First, there is an increase in exports and expansion into global markets, as evidenced by the growing global presence of Indonesian designers and brands. Second, the event drives investment growth and the development of the creative industry, especially through collaborations between local entrepreneurs and international partners in areas such as production, distribution, and promotion. Third, there is an improvement in the competitiveness of Indonesian fashion, reflected in design quality, material innovation, and stronger brand positioning both domestically and globally. Fourth, Paris Fashion Week contributes to cultural reinforcement through fashion, by encouraging designers to creatively showcase Indonesia’s cultural identity in ways that align with global trends, thereby strengthening Indonesia’s image as a country with a rich and dynamic cultural heritage.
