Abstract
This study aims to find out the academic and scientific leadership performances based on an internal quality assurance system at the Christian University of Indonesia. This study used qualitative and quantitative approaches. The data were obtained through interview results, internal quality audit results, and quality documents. The data analysis is done by organizing, synthesizing, and making conclusions. The findings are as follows: leadership in colleges can be divided into two parts academic leadership and scientific leadership. Being academic leaders is contested compared to being scientific leaders. Academic leaders are contested with some reasons, such as having power, being respected, getting substantial benefits, and obtaining some facilities. Becoming academic leaders are less desired because of having big responsibilities which are not balanced with the benefits received, less understanding of the internal quality assurance system, and the demands to prepare the study program accreditation process with some more administrative works.
