Abstract

Piala Dunia 2022 merupakan salah satu ajang olahraga yang paling ditunggutunggu di tahun 2022. Piala Dunia merupakan salah satu momen paling membahagiakan bagi seluruh umat manusia, khususnya bagi para pecinta sepak bola. Namun kebahagiaan ini justru menjadi bencana bagi sebagian besar pekerja asing di Qatar. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis apakah praktik eksploitasi yang terjadi dialami oleh TKA di Qatar. Penelitian ini menggunakan teori Marxisme dalam menganalisis permasalahan yang ada. Peneliti menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif untuk mengumpulkan, menganalisis dan memvalidasi data. Kajian ini menemukan adanya praktik eksploitasi yang dialami tenaga kerja asing dalam pembangunan infrastruktur Piala Dunia 2022 di Qatar. Praktik eksploitasi ini dilakukan dalam bentuk sistem kafala. Praktik eksploitasi yang dialami TKA sangat beragam, mulai dari gaji yang tidak dibayarkan, tidak adanya jaminan perlindungan pekerja, pencabutan paspor, bahkan ada yang meninggal dunia. Kata Kunci: Eksploitasi; Piala Dunia; Perbudakan Modern, Qatar; Tenaga Kerja Asing. / The 2022 World Cup is one of the most awaited sporting events in 2022. The World Cup is one of the happiest moments for all of humanity, especially for football fans. But this happiness is actually a disaster for most of the foreign workers in Qatar. This study aims to analyze whether the exploitation practices that occur are experienced by foreign workers in Qatar. This study uses the theory of Marxism in analyzing the existing problems. Researchers used qualitative research methods to collect, analyze and validate data. This study found that there had been exploitation practices experienced by foreign workers in the construction of infrastructure for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. This exploitation practice is carried out in the form of a kafala system. Exploitation practices experienced by foreign workers vary widely from unpaid salaries, no guarantee of worker protection, termination of passports, and even some of the workers passed away.
