Abstract

Kesehatan gigi dan mulut merupakan hal penting untuk kesehatan secara umum dan kualitas hidup, namun kesehatan gigi dan mulut sering kali menjadi prioritas yang kesekian bagi sebagian orang. Hal ini dapat menimbulkan terjadinya karies, terutama pada gigi yang paling lama berada dalam rongga mulut manusia, yaitu gigi molar satu. Karies gigi merupakan penyakit yang mengenai jaringan keras gigi, berupa daerah yang membusuk pada gigi, dan terjadi akibat proses yang bertahap. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendapatkan gambaran karies gigi molar satu pada mahasiswa Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Kristen Indonesia Angkatan 2018. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriptif. Teknik sampling yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah teknik simple random sampling. Berdasarkan penelitian ini, dari 115 subyek (100%) yang terdiri dari 34 orang laki-laki (29,6%) dan 81 orang perempuan (70,4%), didapatkan total subyek yang menderita karies molar satu sebanyak 44 orang (38,3%) dengan persentase perempuan dengan karies molar satu lebih tinggi dibandingkan lakilaki dengan karies molar satu. Perempuan penderita karies molar satu sebanyak 37 orang (45,7%) dan laki-laki sebanyak 7 orang (20,6%). Kata kunci: karies, molar satu. / Oral and dental health is important for health in general and quality of life, yet oral and dental health often does not become priority for some people. This can cause caries, especially the oldest teeth in the human oral cavity, which is the first molar. Teeth caries is a disease of the hard dental tissue, in the form of decaying areas on the teeth, and this occurs due to a gradual process. The purpose of this study is to get the description of the first molar caries in the class of 2018 medical faculty students at Christian University of Indonesia. This study is using the descriptive method. Sampling technique used in this study is the simple random sampling technique. Based on this study, from 115 subjects (100%), consisting of 34 men (29.6%) and 81 women (70.4%), there are 44 people with first molar caries (38,3%) in total, with higher percentage of female with first molar caries than male with first molar caries. There are 37 females suffering from first molar caries (45,7%) and 7 males suffering from first molar caries (20,6%) Keywords: Caries, first molar.
