Abstract

Kepulauan Riau memiliki suku dominan yaitu suku Melayu. Suku Laut juga merupakan suku asli dari Provinsi Kepulauan Riau yang tinggalnya di daerah sekitar laut. Dengan adanya perbedaan budaya pada masyarakat suku Laut dan masyarakat suku Melayu, terjadilah hambatan dalam berkomunikasi antarbudaya pada kedua suku ini. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan penelitian kualitatif. Di penelitian ini peneliti memakai metode penelitian fenomenologi. Pada penelitian kali ini peneliti menggunakan metode pengumpulan data sebagai penunjang penelitian dalam meneliti ialah wawancara dan observasi. teknik dalam pemilihan informan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah menggunakan metode Purposive Sampling. Peneliti menggunakan analisis data Miles dan Huberman.Bentuk interaksi suku Laut terhadap suku Melayu, Bentuk interaksi yang terjadi pada masyarakat suku Laut terhadap suku Melayu di Kepulauan Riau biasanya terjadi dalam konteks kerja sama atau melakukan transaksi ekonomi. Faktor-faktor penghambat komunikasi yang terjadi antara suku Laut terhadap suku Melayu, Salah satu hambatan utama adalah perbedaan bahasa dan budaya. Ada stereotip dan prasangka bahwa masyarakat suku Laut tertutup dan memiliki kepercayaan yang berbeda, seperti menyembah entitas lain. Upaya masyarakat suku Laut dalam mengatasi hambatan komunikasi antarbudaya terhadap suku Melayu, Meskipun ada hambatan seperti perbedaan bahasa, budaya, dan agama, masyarakat suku Laut menunjukkan bahwa dengan adaptasi, pendidikan, dan sikap saling menghormati, tantangan-tantangan ini dapat diatasi. Dari hasil penelitian ini, dapat disimpulkan bahwa meskipun terdapat berbagai hambatan, masyarakat suku Laut dan suku Melayu di lima pulau Kepulauan Riau memiliki mekanisme adaptasi yang baik dalam berinteraksi satu sama lain. Melalui upaya bersama, keduanya mampu mengatasi hambatan-hambatan yang ada dan membentuk komunikasi yang lebih efektif dan bermakna. / The Riau Islands has a dominant tribe, the Malay tribe. The Sea Tribe is also an indigenous tribe from Riau Islands Province that lives in the area around the sea. With cultural differences in the Sea tribe community and the Malay tribe community, there are obstacles in intercultural communication in these two tribes. This research uses a qualitative research approach. In this study, researchers used phenomenological research methods. In this study, researchers used data collection methods to support research in researching interviews and observations. the technique in selecting informants used in this study is using the Purposive Sampling method. Researchers used Miles and Huberman data analysis. The form of interaction that occurs in the Sea tribe community towards the Malay tribe in the Riau Islands usually occurs in the context of cooperation or conducting economic transactions. Factors inhibiting communication that occurs between the Sea tribe and the Malay tribe, One of the main obstacles is language and cultural differences. There are stereotypes and prejudices that the people of the Sea tribe are closed and have different beliefs, such as worshiping other entities. The efforts of the Sea tribe community in overcoming intercultural communication barriers towards the Malay tribe, Despite barriers such as differences in language, culture, and religion, the Sea tribe community shows that with adaptation, education, and mutual respect, these challenges can be overcome. From the results of this study, it can be concluded that despite various barriers, the Sea tribe and Malay tribe communities in the five islands of Riau Islands have a good adaptation mechanism in interacting with each other. Through joint efforts, both are able to overcome existing barriers and form more effective and meaningful communication.
