Abstract

Penggambaran perempuan dalam media massa maupun media cetak selalu tidak menguntungkan perempuan. Fokus utama dari penulisan ini yaitu, bagaimana perempuan ditampilkan dalam teks dan isu dominan apa yang ditekankan dalam pemberitaan surat kabar Lampu Hijau. Penelitian ini dianalisis melalui analisis wacana dengan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif model analisis Sara Mills. Metode analisis wacana Sara Mills melihat bagaimana teks dibangun melalui tiga posisi, yaitu posisi subjek, posisi objek, dan posisi pembaca. Dalam posisi subjek dan objek, penulis menganalisis bagaimana perempuan sebagai objek direpresentasikan dalam teks melalui sudut pandang subjek. Sedangkan dalam posisi pembaca, penulis melihat bagaimana teks diterima oleh pembaca dan bagaimana pembaca memosisikan dirinya dalam pemberitaan. Peneliti menemukan bagaimana perempuan di representasikan dalam surat kabar Lampu Hijau. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa perempuan selalu digambarkan sebagai pihak yang pantas mendapatkan kekerasan karena “cantik”, lemah, tidak memiliki kehendak bebas, tidak memiliki kuasa atas tubuhnya sendiri, gampangan, dan diceritakan dengan buruk. Isu yang paling dominan dalam pemberitaan ini yaitu bahwa kekerasan terhadap perempuan bukan hal penting dan menekankan bahwa posisi laki-laki yang harus mendominasi hidup perempuan. Kata kunci: representasi, perempuan, analisis wacana, kekerasan seksual. / The description of women in mass media and printing media always underestimate and/or disadvantage women. The fundamental focus of this writing is about how women are portrayed in texts and dominant issues as it is discussed in Lampu Hijau. The research is analyzed through the analytical method of qualitative descriptive method as it was lectured by Sara Mills. The analytical method used by Sara Mills is based on three important concepts namely the subjective position, the objective position and the readers position. These three concepts are taken to identify how texts about gender inequality are built. Using the contexts of both subjective and objective position, the writer identifies and analyzes how women are objectively represented in the texts using the subjective standpoint. On the other hand, the author also identifies how the readers receive and react to the information and where they position themselves in the given information. The researcher also addresses how women are depicted within the context of Lampu Hijau. Furthermore, the results of the research and analysis show that women are always negatively portrayed and categorized as a group which deserves to face violence. It is because they seem to be week, easy and have no free will and even have no power over their own bodies. Moreover, every violations against the rights of women are not solved seriously and men seem to have dominantly more power over women.
