The research focuses on the outer Baduy residents in Kaduketug village and the inner Baduy in Cibeo village, Kanekes, Lebak Regency, who have maintaining the traditional way of life and maintaining the existence of protected forests for hundreds of years, by building houses in mutual cooperation using building materials found in the surrounding forests. Determining the time to build a house must have the permission of the Puun (traditional leader), also restrictions on taking materials from the forest must have the permission of the Puun and taken according to their needs. This research aims to understand how the Baduy people have managed to maintain their traditions amidst modern technological advances. The research methodology includes qualitative and quantitative approaches. Data collection was carried out through field observations, interviews with Baduy residents, and a review of literature related to Baduy Houses. Careful research into the culture, shape and layout of Baduy houses is well documented and analyzed. In the midst of the increasingly open Baduy area as a cultural tourism destination in Lebak Regency, which has been made easier to reach from Jakarta with the KRL, this has made Baduy settlements busy with local and foreign tourists on holidays and Saturdays. The research discusses how important it is for tourists to obey existing rules, such as in the Inner Baduy area, it is prohibited to activate communication devices, take photos, smoke, bring alcoholic drinks, dress inappropriately, and there is also a prohibition on using soap and toothpaste while in Inner Baduy. The results of the research emphasize that adhering to customary provisions has resulted in a residential area with a Baduy house layout and protected forest that has remained intact for hundreds of years.
