Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengidentifikasi kata-kata slang dan strategi terjemahannya yang digunakan dalam film "Chappie". Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif. Data dianalisis dengan menggunakan teori Partridge (2004) dan Gottlieb (1992). Data dikumpulkan dari skrip film "Chappie" (2015). Dalam penelitian ini ditemukan 126 kata slang. Dari 11 tipe kata slang, ada 5 tipe slang yang ditemukan dalam penelitian ini, yaitu 106 data society slang, 15 data public house slang, 3 data slang in public school and university, 1 data slang in theatre, dan 1 data slang in medicine. Dan dari 10 jenis strategi penerjemahan, ada 5 strategi yang ditemukan dalam penilitian ini, yaitu 64 data paraphrase, 33 data transfer, 27 data resignation, dan 2 data transcription. Berdasarkan temuan tersebut, strategi paraphrase merupakan strategi penerjemahan yang paling banyak digunakan oleh penerjemah. Penelitian ini diharapkan memberikan ilmu yang bermanfaat bagi pembaca dan dapat menjadi sumber penelitian terkait penelitian berikutnya yang akan dikaji. Untuk mengimbangi kemajuan studi penerjemahan, dibutuhkan penelitian lebih lanjut./The purpose of this study is to identify the slang words and their translation strategies used in "Chappie" movie. This study used descriptive qualitative methods. The data is analyzed using the Partridge (2004) and Gottlieb (1992) theories. The data are collected from the scripts of the movie "Chappie” (2015). The study found 126 slang words. Out of 11 types of slang words, there are 5 types of slang found in this research. They are 106 data of society slang, 15 data of public house slang, 3 data of slang in public school and university, 1 data of slang in theatre, 1 data of slang in medicine. Out of 10 types of translation strategies, 4 strategies found in this research. They are 64 data of paraphrase, 33 data of transfer, 27 data of resignation, and 2 data of transcription. According to these findings, the paraphrasing method is the most commonly used translation strategy by the translator. Furthermore, the following research can provide knowledge that is beneficial to readers and may be the next related research to be reviewed. More research is also required to keep up with the progress of translation studies.
