Abstract

The reason why I publish this paper is caused by the situation where I mostly listen to the teenagers in my surroundings saying slang words some of which become rude words to many adolescents. Teenagers (ages 10-19) say and speak rudely while speaking with their friends even if they are still in a formal situation such at classes, schools, church, at home with their siblings. The writer found out that this phenomenon, the use of rude words by schoolboys or schoolgirls and even a child, in daily communication is really a moral degradation. How can a child shout, call, or talk to his siblings and his friends by using rude words while they are surrounded by their parents or their teachers? This writing is dedicated to all people around the world, especially parents as well as teachers in Indonesia. By knowing many kinds of slang words and rude words used by teenagers now, all parents and teachers can educate and lead their children and students using polite and formal language in some situations. The material found in this book is very useful for each of us to deeply know and also understand about many new slang words used by teenagers in Indonesia nowadays. Many slang words’ meanings cannot be found in formal dictionaries. We can comprehend the meaning of them may be by some ways such as by browsing or surfing the internet, asking the slang users directly, and other ways. The main sources of all slang and rude words found in this book were from recording and interviewing teenagers’conversations randomly. Those slang and rude words are spoken in many ways by Indonesian teenagers now a day in their daily communication.
