Abstract

Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara kebiasaan siswa dalam menonton film berbahasa Inggris dan keterampilan mendengarkan mereka. Penelitian ini dilakukan di SMPN 02 Cibitung pada bulan Juni 2023. Metode kuantitatif dengan desain korelasional digunakan dalam penelitian ini untuk mengidentifikasi hubungan antara variabel independen dan variabel dependen. Kuesioner digunakan untuk menilai frekuensi siswa menonton film dalam bahasa Inggris, sedangkan tes menyimak dilakukan untuk menilai pencapaian mendengarkan siswa. Analisis deskriptif digunakan untuk menguji hasil kedua instrumen dan uji product moment Pearson menggunakan SPSS 25.00. Dari hasil yang diperoleh, nilai signifikansi variabel kedua adalah 0.000 yang berarti korelasinya signifikan karena lebih kecil dari 0.05. Sedangkan nilai indeks koefisien korelasinya adalah 0.412 yang menunjukkan adanya korelasi pada tingkat menengah antara kebiasaan siswa menonton film berbahasa Inggris dan keterampilan menyimak mereka. Dari hasil tersebut, dapat disimpulkan bahwa hipotesis nol (Ho) ditolak dan hipotesis alternatif (Ha) diterima karena ada korelasi positif antara kebiasaan siswa menonton film berbahasa Inggris dan keterampilan mendengarkan mereka. / This study was carried out to figure out the correlation between students' habits in watching English movies and their listening skills. This research was conducted at SMPN 02 Cibitung in June 2023. The quantitative method with a correlational design was utilized in this research to identify the correlation between the independent variable and the dependent variable. The questionnaire was utilized to assess the frequency of students watching movies in English, while the listening tests were carried out to assess students' listening achievement. The descriptive analysis was used to examine the results of both instruments and the Pearson product-moment test using SPSS 25.00. From the results obtained, the significance value of the second variable is 0.000, which means it has a significant correlation because it is less than 0.05. While the index value of the correlation coefficient is 0.412, which shows a correlation at a moderate level between students' habits of watching English movies and their listening skills. From these results, it can be concluded that the null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted because there is a positive correlation between students' habits of watching English movies and their listening skills.
